How do you flatten hair?

I have hair that instead of sticking down it sticks out. people would call that asian hair (no offense). What can I do to make it more flat?

I have very naturally curly and frizzy hair and sometimes it just goes wherever it wants to. I use "super skinny" by Paul Mitchell, which is a serum that works wonders on moisturizing and calming my hair before I dry it. It takes away the "poofy-ness". Something else you could try is using a round brush when you are drying your hair to turn it under. Also, when I'm using my straightening iron, I ALWAYS use "smooth %26amp; seal" by Big Sexy Hair to protect it and it helps me with the "directions" I want my hair to go.
